Warner Bros. acquired Rocksteady Studios!

Warner Bros. has bought the majority stock options of RockSteady Studios, producers of Batman: Arkham Asylum, launched in 2009.

Altough Batman was first published by Eidos, the sequel is now in the hands of Warner, after they recovered the franchise rights.

“Rocksteady Studios has proved it’s professionalism and talent with Batman: Arkham Asylum” declared Kevin Tsujihara, president of Warner Bros Home Entertainment Group. ” This deal is a good strategy and we are thrilled that of our relationship with this talented crew”.

Batman: Arhkam Asylum was sold in more than 3 million units wordwide and won many awards, the most recent being the one from Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, according to gamesindustry.biz

According to Sefton Hill, game designer at Rocksteady, the crew will continue to work on other games based on Warner Bros’s intelectual property. “Rocksteady can’t hardly wait to create more games inspired by Warner Bros’s portfolio”.

Despite this aquisition, former owners Eidos ( who were also bought by Square Enix ) said that they still own 25% of Rocksteady and they will exercise their vote in the company’s board of directors.
